The Bible claims to be the inspired word of God in 2 Timothy 3:16. That is a serious claim that should not be taken lightly! If that is a true claim, then we better pay attention. If it is a false claim, then it is a pack of lies and hypocrisy and a waste of our time. Many books have been written on the subject of the authenticity of Scripture and I am not going to try to do that here but I will leave you with one reason that I believe we can trust it. Isaiah 53 and Psalm 22 (among MANY other places) go into great detail to describe the life and death of Christ hundreds of years before He was born. Human beings on their own cannot write such detailed information about anyone that far ahead of time. If they were making things up, they would likely be as vague as possible in hopes of having a good chance of being right. Yet, if we look at Isaiah 7, he even prophecies the virgin birth. That's not the kind of thing you would prophecy if you were making things up and hoping to be right. From 1st Peter chapter 1 we find that the prophets themselves did not fully comprehend the things that they were writing, but were faithful to record the things that God revealed to them.
I believe:
1. God exists in three persons (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit)
2. The Bible is the inspired word of God
3. God is the Creator of all things
4. Mankind is sinful and deserving of death
5. Christ died so that we may have life
